For those of you who don’t know, I graduated from the University of Alabama. Why is that relevant, you ask? Well, being a graduate of UA, I’m a huge Alabama football fan. And I wouldn’t usually bother to bring this up, but here’s the thing: we’re in the College Football Playoff (again). The game is being played in a few days, and it’s about the time of week to start thinking about preparations. You see, our wonderful neighbors host football-watching parties nearly every weekend during the season. Usually, the host decides on a main dish and contributes that to the party. The rest of us pick a side, an appetizer, or a dessert, and bring what we can. So even though the playoff game is on a Monday, we’re still going to be having a party, and there’s still going to be food that needs to be brought.
Which leads me to tonight’s topic: quick and easy sports appetizers.
Now, I have to admit, I’m a very “snack-y” type of person. If you gave me the choice between snacking all day or having three square meals, I would choose to snack without a second thought. I like browsing food and having a little bit of everything. (Bonus points if it’s salty, cheesy, or sweet!) So I’ve compiled a list of the 9 most delicious quick and easy sports appetizers I could find. You’re welcome. 😉
Buffalo Chicken Dip
I have made this delicious buffalo chicken dip too many times to count. Then I eat it, and only it, for the next few days. Especially now that I live on my own and don’t have to share, since Cole doesn’t really care for the buffalo sauce flavor… it’s dangerous for me to make a batch. In any case, this is a tried-and-true recipe for me, and it’s sure to be a hit at any football party!
White Pizza Dip
This is one of the few recipes on this list that I haven’t personally tried yet. I pinned it on Pinterest ages ago, but I haven’t gotten around to making it. However, I love pizza, and all of the pictures of this white pizza dip just look so good! There are quite a few ingredients involved, but you just toss them together and bake them. Cole and I don’t like tomatoes, so we’d skip the tomato-roasting part. But either way, still pretty simple to make!
Buffalo Chicken Bites
You know, for someone who doesn’t like buffalo sauce, the fact that there are two recipes in this list that involve buffalo sauce is amazing! Enter buffalo chicken bites, which are basically that buffalo chicken dip I mentioned in a bite-sized package. Quick, easy, and delicious, these are a fun addition to any party. You won’t have any left over!
I would literally eat these for dinner every night. I know that sounds overdramatic, but if you know me at all, then you know I have an intense love of pizza! Pizza pockets are essentially homemade hot pockets. The best thing about them is that you can put whatever you want inside! I saw a similar recipe with meat and potatoes, and just about any pizza topping would work here. Experiment! Go crazy! Most of all, enjoy!
Barbeque Chicken Nachos
I do not like barbeque. When we go to a barbeque restaurant, I’m that person who always orders chicken tenders. Always. The weird thing is, I love barbeque chicken nachos! I first had them at the SEC Championship game at the Georgia Dome, and both Cole and I fell in love with them. The secret, in my opinion, is to pile on lots of chicken and lots of cheese! We don’t like all those vegetables and whatnot, but you might! To each his own, after all. For a party, I’d suggest keeping all your fixin’s separated, so everyone can customize their own plate.
Pigs in a Blanket
Probably the easiest recipe on this list, pigs in a blanket are a fantastic thing to bring to or serve at a party. They’re so easy to make and so easy to eat! Plus, there’s only a few ingredients, so you won’t break the bank with this one. Quick, easy, and cheap – the perfect combination for me!
Can we talk about how bacon makes literally everything better? Cole and I love bacon, and we could add it to just about everything and be happy about it. These bacon-wrapped potatoes are a dream, and with the right sauce to go with it, they could taste like a bite-sized baked potato! Yum!
Kickin’ Chicken Nuggets
This recipe is a different take on chicken nuggets. Yes, you could always buy one of those big ol’ bags of chicken nuggets in the frozen aisle at the store, but where’s the fun in that? Plus, these are guaranteed to taste better. These kickin’ chicken nuggets are super cute, super easy, and everyone will love the different textures that you get from the pita chips! You might not want to share.
Honestly, this would be such an easy thing to do if you’re grilling. Instead of using a cookie sheet and an oven, roll out some aluminum foil and cook your cheese quesadillas right there! You could add in some of that barbeque chicken that’s leftover from the nachos if you want a bit more substance to your quesadilla, or they’re just fine with only cheese. Quick, easy, and again – pretty cheap!
So there you have it! These are some of our favorite quick and easy sports appetizers. What do you make for football games? Let us know in the comments!
